Show me your relics from a different time!

So I’m cleaning out my house atm, as you do on a Saturday night, and came across a box that I never unpacked when we moved in. It had 2 jackets inside that are at least 10, if not 15, years old. I felt like it might be fun to show off some old items of yours, whether you like them or not. Obviously excuse the awful fit, these are from 20 pounds ago.

[Coat 1](https://imgur.com/a/q7yYM) is from when soccer jackets made their comeback for
… a month.

[Coat 2](https://imgur.com/a/93del) is complete with corset waist and dark denim fabric. I feel like the shape is pretty cool and could be kinda Star Trek inspired but just… no.

The oldest item I own, my grandmothers vintage Madras blazer that she bought in 1965. I love it so much but I’m terrified to wear it in fear that it will get ruined. https://m.imgur.com/a/LD7fb

More my era, but this DeliA*s sweater I bought in 2004 that still fits like a glove (but has a few tiny holes in it)- https://imgur.com/gallery/EZ4n5

I still love that darn sweater and want to wear it, but is it too dated? I’ll never get rid of it haha.

The oldest thing I own is a silk blouse from the 1890s that is in near wearable condition. In the way of things I wore when they were new, I live with my parents and we still have some of me and my sister’s fancy dresses from when we were toddlers. We lived in South Korea when I was in kindergarten, and my sister and I took our Christmas card pictures in hanboks. We still have the pictures and the hanboks. I will edit later with photos.

I have raided my grandmother’s entire wardrobe. Here’s a pic of me in a frilly 70s blouse and skirt that I stole from her: https://imgur.com/a/MBht1

I love her old style and wardrobe! I feel like it’s very much coming back right now!

The coat 2 is the best use of denim I’ve ever come across!
I don’t have anything to add to the main post but couldn’t resist complimenting it.

I have a tshirt from 1994. It was from my cousins little league tournament and my grandma bought it for me in a pinch after I immediately poured soda all over myself after sitting down. I was 4 at the time, so the fact that I grew into it and still sometimes wear it is somewhat unbelievable to me…other than that, I have a pair of black culottes from the 1970s that were my mom’s when she was in high school.

HOLY SHIT I HAD THAT ENGLAND JACKET. But in a non-hooded version. I wore it til it fell apart all through middle and high school.

I have a vintage 1991 plaid skirt that I sewed in high school. Maybe I’ll throw it onto the FFA buy/sell/trade board tomorrow since I can’t fit into it.

    (I can’t believe *i’m* vintage now.)

I went through a 60’s phase about 12 years ago. I still have a few of the dresses but I’m selling them off. I’m not against the cut or style, but I find myself a lot less tolerant of wearing polyester.

I have been building a capsule wardrobe and have been trying to do it with vintage items. These are my three latest acquisitions. I’m SUPER stoked about all of them.

I have the dress my mom made for my eighth grade graduation in 1990. It looks like an eighties prom dress, like [these](http://thechef.info/80s-bridesmaid-dresses/) (a lot like the purple one, but with a high/low hem). I also inherited an awesome coat from my grandma, which I wear.

My dads 1984 LA hockey club jacket. He wore it most when he was 18, I pulled it out of the closet at the same age and its managed to keep fitting me like a glove another 6 years so far.

[Did someone say different time?](https://i.imgur.com/KhwQKJH.jpg) (I’m the one in red.)

I have a LOT of old stuff. My favorite is probably [this silk blouse](https://i.imgur.com/OBsyhXe.jpg) from my mom.

I’m feeling like death warmed up today so unlikely to take pictures but most of my clothes were bought second hand so I have few relics.

I’m currently wearing my present favourite shirt which is an early 90s boxy shirt in the softest washed a million times cotton. Another favourite is a blouse that was my mum’s which she bought when she was 16 so will be from 1964, it’s pink floral, sheer with a little Peter Pan collar. I have some of her pants she bought to take to Brazil in 1984 and the Rio carnival t-shirt she got whilst she was there. I get loads from charity shops too so can’t tell the ages.

My oldest piece will be an embroidered shawl which is around 150 years old. Unfortunately the dye has run a bit (from before I owned it) but I still love it all the same!

I should also give my 1960s wedding dress an honourable mention!

Coat 2 reminds me a bit of Chloe Bennet’s look this season on Agents of SHIELD-

I haven’t got a picture of myself wearing it, but my dad gave me [this Mets jacket](https://i.imgur.com/tWQh1U7.jpg) that was quite trendy in the 80s. I love it. I wear it to early season games where it’s still slightly chilly and it’s absolutely perfect. I’m never giving it up. I’m hoping to give it to my kid when he’s big enough to fit in it.

This 70s [turquoise suede snap skirt](https://imgur.com/a/xp6Vq). I wore this SO MUCH in college, and this is the last remaining piece from my collection of funky skirts.

I often wore it with a pair of black chunky soled lace-up winter boots that came to just below the knee, and a fitted black sweater. I felt like a total badass! These days I’m usually in earth tones and pants so this skirt has been in queue to get cleaned and sold for erm… several years (whoops!)

my mom’s long, shag + leather coat from the early 70s (me wearing it, plus a photo of her wearing it on her wedding night): https://imgur.com/a/FZuKc

their wedding was really cute. they had it at her mom’s house (the woman in the pink dress), their friend officiated it, and it was “catered” by the local voc-tech school that had a cooking program.

anyway, I never wear the jacket but I live in Brooklyn, so like… I feel I could get away with it in the fall! it’s still in perfect condition.

I still own a Gap plaid button up from the mid 90s. I got it when I was about 12 years old. I wore it to a 90s themed party about 3 years ago…

Hope I’m not too late! My favorite old piece that I have from a vintage thrift shop in Vancouver is [this anti-Vietnam War draft bandana from the 70s](https://www.instagram.com/p/BghyRceDxJ4/). (Swipe to see the actual text). I wasn’t a bandana wearer until I got it.
