Uniqlo x Marimekko – What do you have your eye on?

Uniqlo x Marimekko – What do you have your eye on?

Got the email about the Uniqlo x Marimekko collab – wanted to know what else people were planning on getting!

So far the [patterned tee](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-405821.html) and [black pocket tee](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-409978.html?) have caught my eye.

[Link](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women/marimekko) to entire collection! They also have free shipping on all orders right now, no minimum, so that makes just getting one tee actually kinda feasible which is DANGEROUS to my tee-hoarding lifestyle.

Honestly I’m not super crazy about it, the patterns they chose for the collab seem kind of meh. I guess I was hoping to see some of the classics like Unikko, Piccolo, Pienet Kivet, Räsymatto etc., but maybe they reserve those for the main line collections.

I quite like [this tee](https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-marimekko-100pct-cotton-graphic-t-shirt-409979.html?dwvar_409979_color=COL09&dwvar_409979_size=SMA001&cgid=IDt-shirts16201) and [this dress](https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-marimekko-100pct-cotton-graphic-sleeveless-dress-408334.html?dwvar_408334_color=COL00&dwvar_408334_size=SMA002&cgid=IDdresses16203) in the b/w dots or the florals could be quite cute and whimsical.

Thanks for the link! I thought I’d like these more than I do, so it’s probably just as well that I’m trying not to buy clothes right now. (But such bargains….)

I really like the pocket tees as well! I just wonder if it’s a little too much for work…

I grabbed the [colorful flowerpot tee](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-409979.html). I also had the [sleeveless flower print blouse](https://uniqlo.scene7.com/is/image/UNIQLO/goods_11_408327) in my cart, but it literally sold out before I could check out 🙁 I was pretty crushed

I don’t really like the patterns. If you style it good with a simple outfit, this could work but it’s not my style at all.

I went there today hoping to get a dress, but after trying everything, only the tees fit me well. Those were the cheapest, so I’m not too crushed. I got one of the tilkkutäkki print ones.

Although I’m a huge Marimekko fan, these are definitely not my favorite Marimekko prints–I think the Target collab a few years back had a nicer selection but not great quality. I ordered a bunch of different things to try, with the intention to return whatever doesn’t work–it’s hard to tell from the way they photographed and styled the pieces how it will work on me, I’m not planning to layer a t-shirt over the matching dress, for example. From just looking at the item photos I’m thinking [the flowerpot t-shirt](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-409979.html?dwvar_409979_color=COL09&dwvar_409979_size=SMA002&cgid=women-marimekko) in either color has potential, I absolutely love the [colored dots](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-sleeveless-blouse-408327.html?dwvar_408327_size=SMB003&dwvar_408327_color=COL01&cgid=women-marimekko) shell but I’ll have to see if it looks too clownish on me, and I wasn’t super taken by the product photo of [the t-shirt dresses](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-graphic-short-sleeve-dress-408297.html?dwvar_408297_size=SMA002&dwvar_408297_color=COL00&dwvar_408297_length=001&cgid=women-marimekko#start=20&cgid=women-marimekko) but they have pockets and looked pretty cute in the [lookbook](https://www.uniqlo.com/marimekko/common/images/lookbook_img_04.jpg) so I’m going to try the dresses on as well. I really like [this geometric colorblock t-shirt](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-marimekko-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-405821.html?dwvar_405821_color=COL61&cgid=women-marimekko) but I fear it might be overwhelming/hideous in person.

Not super into the pants/shoes/gym bags–the tote bags are pretty cute but sold out when I was looking at them earlier, and I really don’t need any more tote bags.

The release was yesterday in Australia, I went when the store opened – I don’t know why but I didn’t expect it to be so crazy/popular?! There were sooo many cool artsy older women just grabbing everything haha. I wanted the [spotty culottes and maybe the b/w spotty tee](https://i.imgur.com/YHsa80D.jpg?1) (sorry for this pic lol) but I ended up really liking [this dress](https://i.imgur.com/XD0My8Q.jpg?1) as well. I agree that there are more interesting Marimekko patterns than what they’ve gone with here but the black and white spots do float my boat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m not normally a fan of prints but I *love* maija (the red, black and white poppies) and I’m crushed that all that’s available is a t-shirt and a drawstring bag. I might go check out the t-shirt. .. probably for the best for the sake of my pocketbook as I’ve gone overboard for my husband’s birthday this month.

    Ah goddammit.

This was released yesterday morning in Australia and I completely forgot about it. Only two t-shirt, one blouse and one dress design left online and none of the ones I wanted.

    Ugh.

When it comes to collabs I have two simple rules: (1) remember you’re getting a big quality compromise so they can still meet their desired price point so always check quality first, and (2) don’t buy anything you wouldn’t buy from either that store or the collab brand usually.

I find Uniqlo’s t-shirt quality to be pretty low these days, so I skipped all the Marimekko jersey knit items despite the fact that those had my favorite prints. Also, their totes are usually really sturdy canvas, but these are all polyester ones (see above ref. price point), so pass on those. What I went with was the A-line cotton dresses and the blouses, but I expect them to be pretty thin cotton (I ordered online).

I preferred Target’s Marimekko print choices, but their rayon items shrank. Ugh.

It’s been a bit slow on the Uniqlo Japan website. It looks like the dresses are quite popular, but they still have stock of most things on the website.

The selection is a bit boring, I was hoping Maija and Kukkia rakkaalle would be dress patterns. Not a fan of Uniqlos T-shirts esp as they look a little boxy in this range.

I’m guessing this’ll work out better than the Marimekko target collaboration. I remember with the Target collaboration I just waited it to all end up on super clearance a few months later and it was great. Lily Pulitzer collection disappeared in a day, but no one touched Marimekko. (I’m in the midwest if that counts for anything) But like others have said, the Target version still had more patterns and more options. I still have my Marimekko one-piece swimsuit with flowers and everything. I don’t wear it that often but it’s great when I want to go swimming and don’t want to be too sexy. I had to spend a lot of time trying on Marimekko items and seeing if I really liked the patterns and if they really looked good on me, it’s a lot easier to do that at a local Target than it is to do it with shipping and returns.

I am loving that balloon-y print in the orange pink colorway. It’s sold out in my size but hoping to snag one from a store today! The other prints I’m not so in love with- I was expecting a little more creativity from Marimekko. Seems a little safe to go with so many black and white polka dots even though they’re cute. But you can get that pattern like anywhere right?

I got the quilt pattern and flower pot tees. Wish I was fast enough to get one of the sleeveless dresses in the polka-dot pattern, but maybe poshmark will have people trying to flip their impulse purchases in the near future!

The cropped pants looked great on the model, but it was hard for me to tell if they would look good on or just make me look stumpy :/

Bought the black & white sleeveless dress and the sleeveless top in both colorways online. I am still mad about missing out on the IDLF gingham dress (after logging on one hour late after launch), so I made a point of shopping this right when the site when live.

I love the patterns, but what’s with the cut of the tops? It’s similar to a lot of clothes aimed more at seniors.

I tried on and bought the pink floral jersey t-shirt. The print is pretty cute and I think it’ll be a good addition to my spring/summer work wardrobe.

So I just saw these in person and I don’t like the prints they chose. Lots of stock left here in the Philippines, I guess not many people know of Marimekko.
