[Inspiration] Creative Professional Capsule Wardrobe

**The Background:**
So I’ve recently been quite inspired by the capsule wardrobe ethos: limiting yourself to a small number of clothing items (37-40 is the general recommendation, but it can be any number you like) for a season (3 months). There is a bit more to it than that and you can read about it from the capsule wardrobe pioneer herself [here](http://www.un-fancy.com/capsule-wardrobe-101/how-to-build-a-capsule-wardrobe/) and [here](http://www.un-fancy.com/capsule-wardrobe-101/year-two/).

Give me a giant closet full of clothes and I don’t know what to wear, but a small curated set of clothes and I want to wear all the outfits. I don’t know why, but something about setting limits on fashion really gets my creativity flowing. Weird, I know.

I challenged myself to find 10 items that can all be worn together to create at least 20 completely interchangeable outfits (actually went a little bit over to 14 items, because shoes, but made over 30 wearable outfits). I chose a color palette: neutrals with navy, light blue and pink; and made the challenge a bit harder by limiting myself to ONLY second-hand items. For this, I went to the RealReal. This is hands down my favorite site to buy clothes from because you can get quality, designer items for high street prices. Not only that, but almost all of the items are in perfect shape (I swear I’m not a shill), and you can feel better about saving some clothing from the landfills.

Anyway, the result is in the album linked above. The details of the items included are below:

*I just wanted to clarify that this is not MY capsule wardrobe. All of these items are still for sale (but they sell quick out quick since it’s a second-hand website). This is just a sample mini-capsule I made for fun and wanted to share. Hopefully, I’ve inspired someone!*

Wow, I love these looks! Why isn’t the Roksanda skirt available in my size 🙁 I also find the Real Real annoying in that you have to sign up to be able to search for stuff…

Oh I love this album. You rarely see capsule wardrobes actually all laid out in the different outfit combos, and that makes it *so* much easier to visualize how everything would work together (you know beyond general color scheme and vibe).

Also, this whole album has a very “gal meets glam” vibe to it, which I definitely mean as a compliment!

love the color choice. Often times you see capsule wardrobes that are strictly black/white/grey. As others mentioned I love how you organized all of this as well.

I really like this album as well. The color pairings are super lovely. I think the monochromatic looks are really amazing, too.

Awesome! I love seeing these outfits put together, great job!

Side comment: I’ve seen this often in capsule wardrobes, where the dress is layered under a skirt and I don’t get it. Am I alone in feeling like that’s not practical ? Maybe it’s my body type but it doesn’t seem comfortable. With a skirt over a dress, you’d have so much extra fabric under the skirt, basically wearing two skirts at the same time. And the outfits that are shirt+ dress + skirt …if the skirt fits nicely solo, how will it fit with two layers tucked underneath?? But I get that these capsule layouts are meant to show that you could do all these different combos, not necessarily that a person would.
